My Two Cents
One of the things I'm tired of is seeing people bash each other, or bash groups of people because of how they live their lives. Liberals attacking conservatives, conservatives attacking liberals; straights attacking homosexuals, whites attacking blacks etc. etc. you get the point. My point is that everyone attacks everyone in our society today. No one can just hold their tongue and let things go. I admit that I'm bad about not holding my tongue in private, I rarely say something to someones face because I'm a mental case who's afraid of conflict.
Back to what I was talking about. In the united states of america; there is a battle brewing. A battle that will be so colossal that it will not just be fought in congress, or in the news, oh no. It's going to be fought in the street. It's going to be fought in stores. It's even going to be fought in your own homes between your family members. The current call for gun control by the liberal left has sparked an outcry from the conservative right. Real quick; I find it odd how liberals are calling for more gun control. Shouldn't that be the place of the conservatives? Anyway, things are heating up as the conservatives and the NRA spread rumors that there is going to be a ban on all guns. This is simply a lie, the government does not have the power to ban all guns because of the wording of the second amendment of the constitution. The second amendment essentially makes it impossible to make it illegal for anyone to own a gun. However I do think that our country needs a bit of a tighter leash on guns. I'll hold my tongue on that for now as I have a paper that I'm writing for a class about better gun control.
Let's move away from guns for now; even though I own one and know how to use it effectively, they still make me very nervous. I would like to talk about something that hits a little closer to home for me. The treatment of the LGBT. I am bisexual, which means that I am attracted to both males and females. Many would look at me when I'm with my fiancee and think me to be straight. They would be dead wrong. Just because I'm with a woman, doesn't mean that I stopped being attracted to men. It just means that I get to check out the same guys that she does, while also checking out women. Anyway, I believe that gays, lesbians, and trans people should be allowed to get married. "Why?" you might or might not be wondering. Because it's love. Celebration of love should not be limited to heterosexual couples. Marriage is nothing more than two people showing that they love each other so much that they want to commit their lives to each other. It's not a divine blessing, it's not sacred, it's also not a private straight people only club. It is a promise, a very expensive promise, by two people that they will always love each other. You can spin it however you like, that's just how I see it. When it comes to love, God, Zeus, Odin, Ra, Gaea and who or what ever you have chosen to worship. These beings cannot stop you from being with the one you love. Only you can do that.
Well this has been my two cents worth of opinions concerning various, yet so few, subjects. I'm going to retire and rest my aching arthritis riddled hands. Good night, or good day depending on what time it is when you read this. May you have pleasant thoughts and peaceful dreams.
